Terms of service.

Online working:

In order to create a safe therapeutic space, it is imperative that you are able to find a space that is confidential in order that you feel safe to discuss what you need to. So make sure that you are in a room on your own and others are not able to listen in. We recommend using headphones to further protect your confidentiality. To maximise connectivity, close down other apps and check your internet connection ahead of session.

In terms of comfort, find somewhere that you can sit upright comfortably. Have a glass of water to hand and some tissues. It will also be useful to have a pen and some paper in case you want to make notes.

Drinking is absolutely fine during sessions, but please refrain from eating, vaping or smoking. Unless of course eating something is part of the session plan.

Cancellations:

We will set a mutually agreed time for our sessions. We require a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. If you cancel within this period the full session fee is payable. However, we will consider emergency situations case-by-case.

Payment:

Payments are made to your individual therapist. They will give you payment methods and details ahead of your first appointment.

After the initial session:

Occasionally, following the first session, it can be thought by the treating Clinical Psychologist that they may not be the right clinician for the client. If this occurs, then they will offer a full refund and try and signpost the you to a more suitable Professional.

In an emergency:

We do not operate a crisis or emergency service. If you need to speak to someone immediately please contact your GP or call 999 in out of hours.  For clients who become actively suicidal during the course of therapy, we will refer to the local NHS Crisis Service (via GP) and discharge from our care, as we are unable to provide crisis management in independent practice.

If you want to make a complaint:

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with the service we offer or you are unhappy with any aspect of your treatment then please do speak to your therapist about it in the first instance. We hope that we will be able to resolve any difficulties or misunderstandings in this way and we are always open to feedback in order to improve our practices. If you are not able to resolve the complaint between yourself and your therapist then the next step is to speak to one of the other Clinical Psychologists at Online Psychological Therapies. Their contact details can be found on their individual page on this website.  Finally, if you are still unhappy with the service then I recommend you contact our regulatory body the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
